The Municipal Library of Valentano was established in 1967. It has its own rules since 1977 and is located in the east side of Rocca Farnese, where there is also the Pre-historical Museum.
It is composed of a large reading – room on the first floor and of a conference room, for about 100 seats and some showrooms on the ground floor. Audiovisual equipments and computers are also available.
By the end of 1999 the library collection amounted to 14.551 books (2.708 for children), 138 long playing records and CD-ROM, 914 videocassettes, 54 periodicals and about 5.000 photographs and slides.
Its special thematic sections are: 1) Cinema; 2) Medieval and Renaissance pottery.
The library also keeps the local historical Archives from 1450 to 1870 and the Archives of the Dukedom of Castro<\/span>.<\/p>\n
