At the top of Montenero, the hill which dominates Valentano, there is
the little church of the Madonna del Monte or Madonna della Pietà,
built around the year 1853.
The small oil painting here revered, representing the Madonna with the
Dead Christ in Her arms (the Deposition from the Holy Cross), from the
half of the XIXth century, is now kept in the Parish Church.
The door is a remarkable example of modern art made by Professor Balestra, an artist whose works are greatly appreciated by the lovers of modern art.
